Only some light freezing rain showers passed overnight, as indicated they would by FutureCast. The bulk of the precipitation has ended. KEEP IN MIND, I do not issue the advisorys, watches, and warnings. The National Weather Service does that, I just post the bulletins for the public to see. They are not always right. Final school forecast (11:09PM WED.): 50% REGULAR DAY, 50% 90-Minute Delay, 20% No School
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: This advisory is for the north central Connecticut counties of Hartford, Tolland and Windham. Rain tonight will gradually transition to freezing rain just after midnight, possibly glazing much of the area with one quarter inch of ice before changing to sleet by 4 am and to snow between 5 am and 7 am. Travel will likely be treacherous during the Thursday morning commute, especially higher terrain both to the east and west of hartford and along interstate 84. Scattered thunderstorms are possible near midnight, with isolated power outages possible either from lightning strikes or glaze taking down a few tree limbs. Intermittent light snow is anticipated during the Thursday morning daylight hours Thursday with a small accumulation of snow likely. Some melting of the snow and ice is expected midday Thursday as precipitation tends to quit.
