"Tropical Stormicane" Gustav is south of Jamaica and moving WSW. It probably was a hurricane and may still be, because of the center relocation to the south so it somehow missed hitting Jamaica directly. That being said, Gustav is over a bathtub of warm water and very low shear. It is expected to turn to the WNW and strengthen as it moves through the Yucatan Channel. My forecast calls for a more pronounced turn to the north due to the weakness in the ridge to the north, plus the steering current forecasts.
